Reform Description Risk Management introduced for import of Food Product Ingredients Introduced for Speedy Clearance

Before: Imported food products/ingredients (Peanut Grit, Raisins, Dehydrated Vegetables, Egg Powder etc.) consignments were stopped by the Department of Plant Protection for sample collection, testing and reporting every time, causing delay & additional expenses.

After: Introduction of a mechanism of Temporary Release Certificate (TRC) by PSQCA has minimized time involved in clearance of imports of food products, samples and edible items and it has saved importers from damages.

Details Difficulty ● Imported food products/ingredients (Peanut Grit, Raisins, Dehydrated Vegetables, Egg Powder etc.) consignments were stopped by the Department of Plant Protection for drawing samples, testing and reporting every time, causing delay & additional expense.
Analysis ● After detailed deliberations with the private sector, it was agreed by PSQCR that difficulty exists and examination needs to be done on risk based.
Solution ● PSQCA has introduced a mechanism of Temporary Release Certificate (TRC) which will effectively address the problem.
