Reform Description The Government of Punjab has Abolished the Fee for Licensing of Professions and Vocations

Before: SMEs engaged in any professions or vocations business had to pay fees to obtain/ renew registration/ license to start/operate their business on annual basis.

After: Fees to obtain/renew Licensing of professions or vocations has been abolished under the  “Punjab Local Government (Amendment) Act, 2021”.

Details Difficulty ● SMEs businesses involved in professions and vocations had to undergo a difficult process to obtain licenses. The inspection mafia and lack of automated licensing regime are amongst the major impediments in the ease of doing business and a source of discomfort / exploitation for the small and medium businessmen.
Analysis ● It was felt that the cumbersome process of licensing needs to  be transformed and the fee required for license should be abolished.
Solution ● Accordingly, the Government of Punjab has abolished fees for obtaining /renewing licenses.
