CCoRR reviewed reforms for Pakistan’s dairy and beverage sector to streamline regulations, reduce compliance burdens, and promote investment through a more efficient regulatory framework.
Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Regulatory Reforms (CCoRR) to address structural challenges in Pakistan’s Dairy & Beverage sector.
With a contribution of 14.04% to GDP and livelihoods for over 8 million rural families, the sector holds immense potential. However, regulatory fragmentation and duplication remain key barriers.
The reforms under consideration aim to:
• Streamline 40 regulatory requirements across 25 departments
• Reduce documentation by nearly 65%
• Cut processing timelines significantly
• Unlock Rs. 58.4 billion in economic savings
SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that regulatory complexity continues to hinder FDI inflows, calling for a shift in governance mindset and greater provincial collaboration.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of harmonization, digitization, and implementation of CCI decisions to create a unified regulatory framework.
BOI remains committed to enabling a business-friendly ecosystem and facilitating sustainable investment in Pakistan.
