Reform Description Before: The food processing businesses operating in one jurisdiction had to comply varying compliance requirements in order to operate in different jurisdictions across Pakistan.

After:  Now, Balochistan Food Authority has adopted the harmonized food standards as notified by PSQCA and a food processing business operating in Balochistan now can expand the business operations anywhere in Pakistan without varying compliance requirements.

Details Difficulty Without the harmonized food standards all food processors and manufacturers have to comply with the varying provincial food standards which resulted in added time and cost due to the compliance requirements. Besides, food manufacturers must meet the different food testing criterias which was put in place by the concerned provincial food regulatory authority.
Analysis It was felt that there is a dire need for adopting the harmonized food standards by all the provinces to facilitate the food manufacturers and also to ensure the provision of food products throughout the country.
Solution Accordingly, the Balochistan Food Authority has adopted the harmonized food standards which were notified by PSQCA.
