After: AEO program is World Customs Organizations (WCO) flagship program this is administered by Customs authority to provide security and facilitation benefits to businesses that demonstrate a high level of compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.

Details Difficulty The businesses were facing compliance related problem and the regulatory framework for Authorized Economic Operator was missing.
Analysis To incentivise the businesses the rules were analyzed to be of a high value. Pakistan Customs has made legislative changes by incorporating section 212-A in the customs act 1969 and notified AEO rules vide SRO 114(i)2020 dated 26-10-2020.  As of yet, it is operational for exports only. Pakistan customs is giving high priority to fast tracking the implementation of AEO program by achieving 50 certified AEOs by December 2023 and 100 certified AEOs by June 2024.
Solution AEO program is World Customs Organisations (WCO) flagship program that is administered by Customs authority to provide security and facilitation benefits to businesses that demonstrate a high level of compliance with customs regulations and trade laws. AEO has been made a part and parcel of the facilitation framework for the benefits of the businesses.
