 Reform Description  Quarantine Certification for non-biological feed additives and food premixes.

Before: Businesses faced difficulties in importing non-biological feed additives, feed preparations, and food premixes due to unnecessary requirements for sanitary and phytosanitary certificates from exporting countries, even though such certificates are not issued for non-biological samples

After: The requirement to produce SPS certificates has been removed for non-biological products.

Details Difficulty ● Requirement of certification for items which are non-biological in nature and are not primarily derived from Plant or Animal source causes unnecessary delays in clearance of shipments and adds to the cost of production.
Analysis ● During interaction with the stakeholders, it was felt that in case of products not requiring SPS certificates many imports were delayed causing heavy losses to farmers/processors and feed millers.
Solution  ● Non-animal products should b excluded from import restrictions of biological animal products in the SRO.
