Details Difficulty ●      The warranty requirement as enforced by AEDB was not in line with the warranty given by the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

●      The difference in warranties fell heavily on the importers/manufacturers of solar equipment as they had to meet the regulatory requirement which they could not claim from the OEMs.

●      This requirement was causing additional cost and paving the way to compromise on the compatibility of the solar products in the market.

Analysis ●      Private sector, in their regular interaction with the BoI, has highlighted the issue. After due consultation with relevant players, BoI raised the issue at the appropriate forum for its redressal.
Solution ●      After deliberation with relevant stakeholders, the AEDB has made the warranty requirements in line with that of the warranty provided by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
