After: FBR has prescribed a time limit of 07 working days in law for clearance of selected rebate claims for compliance within.

Difficulty

  • The duty drawback claims which were selected by the Risk Management System for compliance check took a long time since there was no time limit for clearance prescribed in the law.
 

Analysis

  • After taking up the matter with FBR and other relevant stakeholders it was felt that there shall be a specific time limit in which all the claims selected for compliance check should be cleared.
 

Solution 

  • Accordingly, the Customs Rules, 2001 were amended vide SRO 798(1)/2021 dated 22-06-2021 and it was made a legal obligation to clear the duty drawback claims marked by the Risk Management System for compliance check within 07 days on First in First Out basis.
