Before: For different categories of electric connections, change of name, load and other particulars used to take a long time since there was no timeline present to complete the process.

After: Efficient timelines for all categories  of electric connections have been added in the Consumer Service Manual of NEPRA to facilitate consumers.

Difficulty
  • Without any timeline to change the particulars such as name, load etc., in the electric connection the process used to take a lot of time which was in collision with the ease of doing business.
 

Analysis
  • To introduce the change of name, load and other particulars for electricity connections in Consumer Service Manual an online meeting of all the representatives of all the distribution companies was held. Wherein it was deliberated that there shall be timelines for the change in the particulars of the electric connections.
 

Solution 
  • Accordingly, under a new amendment the timelines for all the five electric connection categories were added in the Consumer Service Manual of NEPRA. Now, the category I, II, and III under which 90% of the SMEs fall have a timeline minimum of 30 days (for category-I) and a maximum of 58 days (for category-III).
